"The home is in a great location for walking to Nevada City, and the hosts are very friendly, communicative, and knowledgeable about the area. They definitely improved our night with a recommendation to eat at Dakan - which was amazing! The only cons are that the mattresses are quite stiff, there are no TVs in the house - which could be great if you want to unplug - and there's not a super cozy place to just plop onto a couch and put your feet up while tucking yourself into a soft blanket. But...

"Excellent private river view location, the sound of the river floats in through the doors for a wonderful intoxicating invitation to soak up the nature that surrounds the property. At night the stars light up the sky and the view from the master bedroom is breathtaking. Enjoyable stay for everyone."

"John’s place was beyond what we could have imagined. when we first arrived, there were deer lounging in the backyard. The house itself was very cozy with plenty of space to spread out when needed. The fireplace and windows are spectacular! I wish we had more time to be physically hanging out in the house, but for the short time we were able to be there, it was a very relaxing retreat."

"This cabin is great. It’s a very short drive to downtown Nevada city, maybe 10 min. It’s super cozy and the hot tub is fantastic. Very quiet and private. The bed was very comfortable. We loved the gas fireplace. There’s plenty of towels and extra sheets if needed. Yes, there’s bad cell service and the WiFi isn’t great but they definitely let you know that ahead of time. We were more than fine with that. The owner communication is great. I highly recommend!"

"This property was perfect for our family Christmas. Beautiful all around. The home was cozy and roomy at the same time. Well decorated and everything we needed was there. Plenty of rooms for everyone and the game room was a big hit! Would love to stay here again in the summer."

"We came to Nevada City to consider relocating and wanted to spend time in a neighborhood and found the property in a lovely location although a few minutes from the commercial district which we decided was a good thing. The owner was very pleasant and accommodating which made us feel welcome and want to return to the home again."

"We rented the house as two of our daughters live in the area making get together very easy. Our third daughter was visiting from Texas and also wanted to visit with her best friend, so the size and location were perfect.Many deer first thing in the morning and then in the afternoon we were entertained by a rafter of turkeys. The view was very nice and you were just far enough away from towns and traffic. Very relaxing."

"There was nine of us staying here. All of us was comfortable and loved this house. Catherine was wonderful to work with. She responded quickly to any texts or phone calls. This victorian home is so beautiful and well taken care of. We had some family over that live in Grass Valley and the man cave came in handy. I highly recommend this home. Thank you Catherine for sharing your beautiful home "

"Such a cute little place. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Check in and out were seamless and the place had everything we needed. The owner was very easy to reach for the occasional question. I would recommend this cabin to anyone looking for comfortable, private accommodations within easy walking distance to Nevada City. "

"Remodeled historic hotel. The rooms were small but clean. Just a little noisy from the road and the room above us. The balcony was our favorite place to hang out. Off season prices were about average. My wife and I have been coming to Nevada City for almost 50 years. This is the first time staying at the National. Check 1 off our bucket list."

"This property is one of a kind! By far one of the cleanest places I have stayed and so welcoming. We had a mix up with our reservations so we only got to stay 1 night instead of 2, in the Daphne cottage but it was wonderful. I wouldn’t recommend walking into town from the cottages, it’s a bit of a walk, down hill going but up coming. But a very short drive, we drove into town twice and it was worth it. The manager or owner, not sure which, but she was a delight, helpful from the second I realized something was wrong with our reservation and even more so to help fix the problem! Even noticed our room was still rather cold around 10pm and brought us a space heater…it was a cold evening. I’ll definitely be looking forward to staying here again and they’re dog friendly if you need it! "
