The Empress Hotel Chiang Mai

4.0 star property
9.2 out of 10, Wonderful, (1002)
"The hotel was extremely clean and convenient in a quite safe location with very walkable route to street markets and Night Bazaar which began at 5pm nightly. Lots of places to eat within walking distance. The property also has a very full breakfast buffet and the sister hotel right next door “The Premier Empress” has a nightly buffet that was delicious. The breakfast buffet area latter serves lunch and dinner. There is a great message place steps away. The pool was very nice and not crowded but...

Mövenpick Suriwongse Hotel Chiang Mai

4.0 star property
7.8 out of 10, Good, (908)
"From the moment I stepped out of the Taxi and the Doorman took my suitcase and ushered me into the lobby to the time I checked out I was greeted with smiles and warmth and willingness to help if needed. Young man named Bird at the pool area was exceptional with friendly chat and service. Only issues I had and they were dealt with promptly were the shower head malfunctioned and the power to the room went off after couple of days ( no one told me I needed to put a key card in the slot). "The breakfast was excellent and good value. I found the mattress hard and the pillows overstuffed. The floor maid found a thinner pillow that helped. Walking distance to the Night Bazaar, but did not like the gauntlet of bars and massage parlors enroute."

"I've lived in Thailand for years, had a rental car on this trip and am familiar with Chiang Mai. I very much enjoyed our stay at Centara. Earlier reviews stated that this property was run down. It appears to me to have been renovated very well. Our rooms were spacious, clean and very comfortable. Reception and restaurant/coffee shop were very nice (though over priced). The surrounding area had some -- but few -- restaurants, shops, massage businesses, coffee shops and convenience stores. ...
