"Not only was the property lovely, the food was delicious and the staff were above and beyond kind and helpful. While I was there, I needed medical attention. The staff worked as translators with the hospital, set up taxi rides, and checked in on me frequently. So generous. The pool area is clean and calming. My hammock on the porch, alluring. "Bacalari Hotel is located in a very convenient area. Very close to Lake Bacalar. Around the corner, there's a cafe that sells great coffee and breakfast items. If you're a walker, you can walk to the main square - at the most 1.5 miles where you'll find a nice park, Fort San Felipe Bacalar and museum and lots of restaurants and shopping opportunities. "

"Cute hotel not far from downtown. Easy to locate with parking. Loved the breakfast but the kitchen staff wasn’t the friendliest. Receptionist was great and very helpful. Rooms were big and spacious. The shower pressure was not the best but I would def stay here again! Pool was very nice but closes at 8:00 pm. "

"Very nice property, we enjoyed the pool and the lagoon, compared to other places we visited, the lagoon area in front of the hotel was clean with crystal clear water. The staff was super friendly and professional! One thing we absolutely did not like is that you have no control over the AC, you need to call the staff to operate it and that was quite annoying, hopefully they will find a better way to do this, at least access to turn on/off would have nice."

"Beautiful pool and gardens, gorgeous rooms with stunning white wash floors and concrete glaze flooring. Lovely room decor. Netflix. Extra bed in room for our family of 5 (2 adults & 3 children under 10). Also, amazing location to walk into town too! 5 minutes from the main plaza. it is next to a fabulous breakfast place (2 mins walk) - Ixchel Bacalar Downside - Coffee machine in room but no pods and poor WiFi connectivity. "Marta and Carmen were WONDERFUL hosts! We managed to communicate with our poquito Spanish :) They were super helpful in providing recommendations for things to do and places to eat. They also helped us organise a private boat tour of the lake as we have very limited time due to the bus schedule to get to our next destination. Great hotel to stay in Bacalar.

"My wife and I had a very good experience at this hotel. Its location is great, with access to restaurants and the lagoon within three blocks. People at the reception are very nice and friendly. Rooms are comfortable, clean, and the hotel has a nice terrace on the second floor for guests to use and relax. Only comment is that the design of the curtains in the room allows for some outside light to enter at night. We had to use a blanket on top of the curtain to make it dark inside, not a big deal, though. I would definitely come back."

"The staff was great at receiving us at the time requested. The view to the lagoon was amazing. They have options to rent a kayak and go out to the lagoon. (We suggest an early morning kayak outing to see the sunrise and be back to the hotel before 9am, that’s when the winds tend to pick up). The bartender at the bar on the property was friendly and the views from the seating areas and hammocks were amazing! "
