"Room was great,staff were brilliant,unfortunately the car park was shut which we were unaware of and a main reason of why we chose the Angel so we had to pay £30 which we hadn’t budgeted for so check before you travel,also the lift at the hotel was out of order but got a slight upgrade because of this,would stay there again "

"The room was ok , had to pay extra for another room as partner couldn’t get in lifts as room was on 10th floor .Bathroom had makeup on the tiles ,so it wasn’t cleaned properly before we get there , dust in the wardrobe ,other wise it was ok"

"When I arrived the staff were polite and friendly, the room was well presented and clean, unfortunately there was a noticeable smell coming from the shower drain. In the evening when I used the stairs there was a fork and some food that had been spilled, this was still there in the morning. I advised the staff at reception and they sorted it."

"24 hour reception so no worries about late check-ins… (might have to let them know if there’s a chance of this though?) Room was great for family of four. Rooms are very quiet - I think soundproofed. Breakfast was really great! I only marked it down slightly on the cleanliness etc due to state of carpet in our room but really pleased for the money."

"Even though from the outside, the building looks a bit rough, it is really nice inside! Would book myself again into The Royal without any hesitation should the need arise. Very good quality breakfast, nice rooms. Recommended!"

"Lovely hotel, spa was fantastic and very clean. Room was spacious, clean and modern. Reception staff were unreal, and breakfast was the best I’ve ever had at a hotel (and I stay at a hotel at least once a week with work). Would highly recommend."

"Visited for a family funeral recently and the staff were so kind, polite and helpful. Greeted with a smile at every occasion and a warm Cooke on check in. Breakfast was lovely, not greasy and plenty to choose from. Gym was well equipped and air conditioned. Pool was warm and clean. I stayed in the newly refurbished rooms which were clean and spacious. "Polite helpful staff, especially in the breakfast room which was very busy on the Sunday morning. Room facilities were very good. Hotel needs to get the 2nd lift in the foyer fixed. Accept need time but guest in lift had stayed 3 months ago & it wasn't working then. All in all nice location & hotel"

"It was absolutely wonderful- very clean and welcoming and the bed was really comfortable. Also the scent of the toiletries was beautiful. The only issue was that when I phoned about where to park, I was put through to a central office and not the hotel - so although I was told the right car park, I paid upfront online, as I was not told about the hotel code that essentially made it half price. Not the hotel’s fault just the central call office 😊"
