"The best thing about this place is the staff – they’re super friendly and helpful. They accommodated my request and gave us a quiet room, which was much appreciated. We were also allowed to order a take away, to eat in the room. We were given plates and cutlery from the breakfast area which was a nice touch. "Stayed at The Pied Bull for 2 nights March 2025 & have stayed there a few years ago. Lovely hotel /pub with a warm comfortable atmosphere about it. Comfy bed, spotlessly clean, good facilitates. Good hearty full English breakfast. The staff are great & very welcoming. Enjoyed their thursday night quiz too. Location is perfect as right in the heart of historic Chester. Its near lots of shops, bars, restaurants. Easy access to the walls around Chester too. I would highly recommend staying...

"Disappointed with spa as sauna out of use , not many beds and was busy and chlorine in pool was high as had sore eyes still the next day Locker room in poor condition Hotel and room excellent , spa poor Only used the once Food in restaurant was good but very expensive "

"I was travelling my motorbike and they very kindly let me park in an enclosed yard at the back. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Both the public areas and the room were clean and modern. Food in the evening was good and great value, the bar had a good atmosphere with locals and guests. Room included a nice continental breakfast. I would happily stay here again. "

"Nice hotel set in lovely countryside, very friendly staff. Evening meal was good, although it was a very quiet period which led to no deserts being available which was a bit of a let down. All that being said we had a pleasant stay."

"Food was excellent. Room was very comfortable. My usual bugbear is staffing and service but at this hotel I'd say 100 percent is selling them short . Could not ask for better service particularly in the savvy fox restaurant. Will definitely be staying here again. Only downside was we were only staying 1 night. Well done. "

"the young lady who checked us in was really good explained everything and we were in our room within minutes ,pool and gym are great hot tub not very hot and saunas not working ,breakfast was ok nothing special offered nothing other than buffet breakfast ,bed was to soft for me "

"Our room itself was very nice, it looked much nicer than we expected, however the bathroom wasn’t spotlessly clean and there was a couple of maintenance jobs that needed doing, the tap was loose and the soap holder was damaged. Nothing that significantly affected our stay but simple jobs that could have been sorted and would have been noticed by housekeeping when cleaning. the staff were very friendly and helpful throughout our stay. We didn’t have breakfast at the hotel as didn’t feel it was...

"The building itself seems old and is full of characters. Room doors are still open using old fashioned key, tiny tv screen like the old days. As I was only staying for 2 nights, there isn't a need for my room to be freshen up, though there isn't anywhere outside the door where you can hang the 'do not disturb' sign. The shower was a bit too tiny with the switch that switch outwards, you can easily switch off the shower by turning or turn up/down the heat."

Lovely hotel with lots of character
