"This was the perfect break to recuperate from major surgery and before starting chemotherapy. "Our room was clean and comfortable with a lovely ensuite bathroom. Location is brilliant - about a 20 metre walk and you’re on the Old Course!! Parking was easy and free nearby. Be aware that, quite typically of St Andrew’s, there is no lift so make sure you’re up to climbing stairs and also getting your luggage up and down yourself! Staff were friendly, breakfast was excellent. Definitely recommend!!"

However local area still had lots of other eatery options, plus hotel was open for a breakfast. I paid a visit to the amazing Isle of May on Saturday. For anyone who likes seabirds, it is a must. The weather was fantastic and the birds were unbelievable...noisy, smelly and absolutely everywhere. I'm not a birder by any means, but the puffins were great and I gave my jack-of-all trades 28-300 VR a good work-out.
