"Good location in Nagano. The ground floor has a strong smell, and the you can tell they once allowed smoking in the hotel. Otherwise it is a fine hotel for a stay in Nagano. PS no personal climate control in your room, just on/off for whatever the building is pumping. The beds are SUPER soft, my partner loved it but too soft for me."

Lots of variety, the sushi was not good and their take on Western food isn't great but the Japanese food is awesome. 2 different Onsen areas that alternate gender daily so you can try both. It really is a traditional Japanese hotel and experience and loved the friendly and helpful staff, and the location is just a short 10 min scenic stroll across the river to the bus/train station. "We stayed at this lovely traditional hotel for three nights. Even though the staff doesn’t speak much English, they make it up with wonderful hospitality. I told the staff to let my husband in at midnight because he’s on the last train, the front desk clerk told me there’s no more taxi service and offered to pick him up. That was almost midnight.
