"Beautiful Victorian home that was decorated perfectly for the era! The family was super friendly and helpful! The children were there when we first arrived and were adorable, pleasant and so well behaved! Delicious, warm chocolate chip cookies were available when we checked in. Breakfast was really good. They served warm homemade muffins, eggs, bacon, sausage, fresh fruit, orange juice, coffee and more! We were very pleased and will definitely stay again if we are in the area. "

"Booked for a relaxing birthday vacation away from busy life in NY. The day of our arrival (hours before arriving) we were informed that the hot tub isn't working and won't be for at least another week. This was very disappointing because the hot tub was the only reason we booked here. We made the best of it and enjoyed the New River Gorge and it's many hikes. "Our 4 night stay was wonderful, the inside has been recently renovated albeit it looks like some work is still being done in certain areas. It certainly did not deter from the overall experience and the owners have done a great job with the improvements thus far. The kitchen is amazing for cooking and entertaining. The house has an in-line water heater which was nice! The location is 45 minutes from Winterplace ski resort and about a 15 min car ride to most retail restaurant establishments. ...

"The cabin was fine except for the one issue I had with the cleanliness. The dishwasher was full of half clean dishes. I say half clean because the dishwasher had been run, but the many of the dishes were not clean. I had to hand wash them first because I did not want to be blamed for putting away unclean dishes and washing them again in the dishwasher would have been futile. "

Hidden gem

"We got in late, but the restaurant was still serving. We ate in the bar, while a live band played in the connected dining room. Friendly bar staff, with the vibe of a neighborhood bar. They had no problem splitting a burger and fries for us. The menu made me wish we were staying longer! Clean room with plenty of chargers built into the bedside table. Great water pressure. Probably next time I will make sure to request a room on the 2nd floor, as I am a light sleeper and heard footsteps overhead after we’d turned in. Last time we stopped here on the way to the beach, we’d had weather getting there, and arrived near midnight. It’s off the beaten path, and we were a bit worried the first trip. This time it was still light, and the directions got us there easily. I’m glad to have arrived in time to partake of the local flavor this time. Looking forward to the next trip!"
