There are some places that looked tired but thats to be expected for a building of its age . It didn't affect our stay in any way. The breakfast options were very good . "The Royal is within easy walking distance of the train statio, the Cardiff Castle, Cardiff Museum, Stadium, several arcades, and a wide variety of good restaurants. Our room was very nice with wood floors. The beds were comfortable, and the bathroom was well organized with a really lovely spacious bath/shower. We appreciated the free early baggage storage prior to check-in. Finally, the staff were very polite and helpful. "
