"The hotel is inside the walled city, right next to the basilica. As no car is allowed to drive to the castle, the hotel offers a free shuttle to pick/drop you to the parking lot where you get in/off the taxi. The hotel has a lot of history but the condition itself needs some maintenance. The view from the hotel is unbeatable and the staff are super friendly. Overall is a very nice stay. Remember to book a taxi before arrival "

Excellent buffet breakfast. 4pm checkin is later than most hotels Great pool use however steam room etc is part of spa at an additional cost of 45 euros per hour. "Nice older hotel, but all modern features in room, in excellent location. About a 10 minute walk to amazing fortress/castle and same to the old part of town. Hotel had a small store attached, where you can buy great wine at an excellent price. They also had a great selection of cheeses and bread, plus other nice foods/snacks. "We had an excellent 1 night stay at Sowell Le Chevaliers. The staff was very patient during our check in. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Carcassonne. The room was clean and nicely appointed with a walkout spacious terrace. We wish we could have stayed another night. The view we had of the walled city and overlooking the river (with bird activity) was a treat."
