"The Occidental Tamarindo is one of a handful of All Inclusives in Costa Rica. Keep in mind if you’re looking for a Mexican Style “let’s get wasted resort” this is not what you’re looking for. The pace is relaxed and the food at the buffets is local style. If you want steak It’s good but it’s also Not tender like American/Canadian beef. They rate the resort 4/5 stars, really what you have are rooms that would be 3’s, they are ample size comfortable and clean but they were never finished with that 5star building quality to warrant 5 stars. The service is friendly and upbeat, but also laid back. The pool is excellent as is the beach area. Great tours depart from the area and it’s a wonderful place for a great family vacation or couples trip "

"Beautiful ocean views from the room with private patio. Loved cooling off in the infinity pool with the swim up bar while enjoying incredible views. We arrived very early so had breakfast at the restaurant while the hotel put a rush on our rooms. We very much appreciated the early check in plus the bottle of wine left in the room for us. This hotel is perched up on the hill away from the hustle and bustle of downtown Tamarindo but an easy shuttle ride from the hotel to all of the restaurants, shopping and beach. We will be back. Thank you for going out of your way to accommodate us and for making our stay a memorable one!"

"This hotel and our room exceeded our expectations. The staff were wonderful and the location on Potrero Beach is amazing. We enjoyed the proximity to Playa Flamingo and Play Penca for evening swims and a more lively scene if wanted. "

"Ileana and her team of staff were remarkable. So kind, helpful, and thorough with any requests. The food service team and chef were also very accommodating when I had an early scuba dive meet up earlier than the normal breakfast start time. The late afternoon and evening entertainment was a lovely addition as well. And you can’t beat the location. Close to the beach, shops, restaurants, and great local soccer/football right outside the door. "
