My wife and I stayed at the house for the month of November, and we were joined for the last ten days by our two adult children. The place is lovely—recently built, tastefully decorated, immaculately clean, comfortable, intelligently laid out, and well-located, with beautiful views of Santa Fe and the surrounding area. The owner and property manager could not have been nicer or more responsive. We hope to return there, and I unhesitatingly recommend it.
Four aspects of the house and our rental experience deserve mention.
First, this is someone’s home. It isn’t furnished with the generic items found in most rental properties; to the contrary, a great deal more effort, and money, has been invested in making it attractive and comfortable to inhabit. One of the most important aspects of that, to us, was the presence of a fully stocked kitchen, with every imaginable implement and appliance. We were able to cook there without first having to make a shopping expedition to a kitchen store! We also appreciated the intelligent layout, which uses space efficiently and makes the place seem larger than its measured square footage.
Second, the location, in an upscale neighborhood just north of the northern end of the Relief Road, is outstanding. From the back porch, there is an unobstructed view south, overlooking Santa Fe and continuing all the way to Sandia. Every evening offered a fabulous sunset view from the living room (and even more so from the porch). On top of that, the location was ideal: we enjoyed the quiet that came from being outside the city’s center but could reach downtown by car in well under ten minutes. In fact, we found the place handier to where we wanted to go than many of our previous Eastside rentals.
Third, the owner was the most helpful and thoughtful rental property owner I have encountered. He had, moreover, chosen as a local property manager someone who was knowledgeable, experienced and responsive. Both went out of their way to make sure that we were comfortable and that the house was meeting our needs. For example, the owner knew we were looking for a place with a functional office, and to that end, he left us both a 24-inch monitor and a printer/scanner for our use.
Finally, the house represented excellent value for the money when compared to other properties that were available when we were looking this past summer for a November rental. We are so glad we found it! We will treasure our time there.
