"The property was very well maintained and cleaned everywhere. The staff was extremely friendly and accommodative. We have several interactions with the concierge desk attendants and bartenders and many others and it was always a positive experience."

"Not a 4.5 star hotel as advertised. It was a 3.5 star - a good 3 star. Bedroom was very small, but balcony was spacious. Liked the separate sitting area. The room was serviced only once in our 7 day stay."

"I really liked this resort. We treated ourself to this 5 star hotel for our anniversary. They have an incredible pool, the biggest salty water pool in Europe and the Spa massage made me fly. The location itself is stunning and it's 30 seconds walk from the ocean. The staff has always been helpful and kind whenever we asked for something. Dream place and you feel like a king/queen. "Hotel was lovely. Clean, modern. Lovely room with balcony and hot tub. Amazing views from sun bathing area. Staff very friendly, breakfast buffet good. We booked bed and breakfast but were disappointed with the lack of restaurants in the area that were walkable. Only a few nice ones we found. So the hotel is remote so just go with that in mind but we were more than happy to just stay in the hotel for the vast majority of our stay because we needed a total R and R holiday. We certainly got that."

"The food was less desirable at the grill restaurant. Chicken wasn’t properly cooked and lacked flavor. The ribs were undercooked as well. The chefs at all the restaurants should pay attention to the food before leaving the kitchen, sometimes they lack flavor. But overall, I would recommend this hotel to everyone. I had a great time. "

"An excellent hotel to stay. Less than 5 min walk to the beach and next to the boardwalk. Very safe area. We did the half board which allowed us to have breakfast (coffee, water, juices free) and dinner (water, soft drinks and alcohol comes with a charge). More than enough food. Pool was nice. Had a heated and non heated. Front end, cleaning, restaurant, pool staff were great. "

"There is currently building work going on at the hotel which we were not made aware of prior to our trip. The lift near our apartment was being upgraded and the whole street is being resurfaced. The actual hotel rooms are great (albeit out dated) with big balconies over looking the sea. Amazing views. Uncomfortable beds. Great showers. Amazing breakfast. Lovely friendly staff. "

Quiet getaway with wonderful views

"San Marcos is a small quiet, laid-back resort with a small supermarket, a pharmacy and a handful of bars and restaurants. The apartment is well furnished, with everything needed for self-catering and the bed was particularly comfortable. The outdoor balcony is the highlight of the apartment and we spent more time there than anywhere else. The views of the sea are spectacular and only a few metres away. The internet connection was strong which was good as we were there for over three weeks and needed good internet to catch up on work. In March there was no problem with spaces to park a car. If you don't have a car, there is a very regular bus service to the local town of Icod for bigger shops and to see the tree. Right from the beginning, our host was helpful and proactive and did much more than expected when helping us with a problem with our car. Our host's ability to speak English was very helpful with this problem. I"

"I really liked this place, despite some eccentricities. Estrella del Norte is run by a few generations of a Canarian family, and feels like a family-run establishment. The building is somewhat dated, but boasts fantastic views both ways, of the sea and nearby Teide volcano. They keep it spotlessly clean, and are very welcoming. I stayed in what they called the Honeymoon Suite, top floor. My room had balconies on both sides. One of the eccentricities was a hot tub in the room that also served as the kitchen and living room. This isn't a criticism; just an observation. I was ill for the first part of my stay, and extended my stay twice. The owners were very accommodating of me, and they earned my gratitude. They also provided, free of charge, a litterbox for my cat, who travels everywhere with me. The hotel is on a block that serves as a de facto resort compound. It's a little bit uphill from the central area of Icod, but is self-contained. The reception has a small shop with necessities like snacks and soft drinks and booze. Just around the corner, on the same block, there is a full-service restaurant (Los Faroles). I'm not sure if it's affiliated with the hotel, but I ate a lot of my meals there. They serve massive portions of Canarian food at excellent prices, and are one of the few places open on holidays. I would definitely stay here again."

"Fantastic hostel with friendly and proffessional staff, located about 15 minutes walk from the Centre. Two large terraces, free breakfast and extras such as laundry and towels very reasonably priced. The road outside is quite busy during the day, buy not too bad at night."
