"We had a larger room with a pool view. Merlin Beach is a five star for snorkeling. We would go back for that. Staff was great! The resort is kid friendly, so expect it to be noisy. The restaurants are not spectacular for a resort. And the resort feels like a three star trying to be a five star. "Rare that I review so highly but the stay was great. Great free buffet. Pool was awesome. Upgraded room was bigger than some apartments I have had. Great views from room. The make massage guys are set up in a few side streets and directly in front of hotel. They don’t hassle you except saying massage. Freaky at first but to each their own! The main drag is the next road and short walk to the beach."

"Getting a Taxi to Patong cost $10 each way. There is a hotel shuttle but it has pretty limited service. The staff was excellent but they are limited by company policies. The cleaners don’t give fresh towels. We were there for 10 days and I had to hand in the towels at the half way mark and then wait hours before we got any back. One day we didn’t get cleaning (they must have missed us) so we didn’t get water, they charged us $3 USD per bottle. One day we had no toilet paper and I had to go...

"This was my second stay at the Paragon Resort & Spa. It is like its own little oasis when in the pool. To stay current the hotel will need to complete some renovations as the building is starting to look old. Things like mattress and pillow comfort could be improved and towels with ripped edges.
