"Loved the location, it is just steps from the Royal Mile and lots of attractions. The Tolbooth Tavern nearby was a great find. The building itself is really good as well. There is are lot of stairs, but also a lot of space which was very good for our famiy stay. The building does need some updates (ie carpet on stairs looks dingy, and there are banged up walls in the stairway is likely from lots of travellers). "The only negative was check-in. There were many guests to check-in, and only a couple staff members to handle the crowd. This is a huge hotel with approximately 10 check-in lanes. Not sure why they were not in use.?"

"Really enjoyed our stay at the Residence Inn. The suites(we had 2) were very spacious and comfortable. I was a bit surprised that the beds couldn’t be separated into twins, as there were clearly 2 single mattresses, topped by a queen mattress. Not every guest at the hotel is a couple, as in our case, a brother and sister( one slept on the sofa bed, which wasn’t as comfortable as the bed. "The hotel manager was very nice, the hotel location was great with a wonderful view of Edinburgh Castle, main areas of hotel were clean and the breakfast itself was excellent. The room itself was spacious with an excellent view and the hotel bar was nice. All the staff were polite and friendly outside of one employee at breakfast and I’m unsure what that was about."
