"Excellent breakfast. Staff very attentive upon arrival and at breakfast. Slight heating (lack of) our annexe room quickly resolved. Nice clean room. Nice pub near to the property(Volunteer arms)Hotel slightly on the expensive side for value for money!!"

"We stayed in room 3 for 2 nights. We adore York, such a fascinating and historic City, but this was the first time we had visited at Christmas time. The hosts are wonderful people very helpful, accommodating and eager to to please. The room was large with a very nicely presented bathroom. Lovely hot shower and plenty of hot water during our stay. "Quiet neighborhood within walking distance of York sights. Breakfast was delicious, but it cost £15 per person. The cook staff was wonderful. Two small problems… be sure to tell them in advance if you need a parking spot. We almost didn’t get one. It was £10 per night for parking with the hotel. It would have cost more in the nearby lot. Also, no one went in our room to freshen the dishes or towels. All that said, it was clean and comfortable and in a great location. "

"Great B&B. Cosy room, excellent breakfast and welcoming pub downstairs. Would stay again but I’d book independently as YOU, HOTELS.COM did not pass on my payment to the Bootham and YOU told the Bootham I was 2 persons and needed to be charged double for breakfasts! I had to prove I’d paid for my stay when I arrived which made me feel very uncomfortable and I hold YOU, HOTELS.COM entirely responsible and in no way am I annoyed with the Bootham B&B. "Lovely old pub with log burner in bar, friendly staff and locals, made very welcome. Stayed three nights in the four poster room, situated outside of main building but ideal for our two small dogs. Home cooked meals, very good and generous, good range of ales, most from adjoining brewery. Located in the countryside, highly recommended."

"Lovely welcome from Tina who was very helpful throughout. Room was small but beautifully formed. Breakfast fantastic. Under fifteen minutes walk into town or onto the beach; lovely gardens to visit nearby. My first visit to Scarborough and I will be back; back to Powys Lodge too."

"I stayed for one night at The Cordelia as a solo traveller, and chose this hotel as it was conveniently located and looked great in the photos. I was not disappointed! "We had a wonderful 3-night stay and Helene was the perfect host. The room was large and clean with a very comfortable bed. The pre-ordered breakfast was delicious. The location was perfect as a base for everywhere we wanted to visit in Yorkshire and right next to Pickering centre. Would certainly highly recommend to anyone visiting the area. Only point to make is, if wanting to visit steam train or Pickering castle, check opening times. "

"The location was ideal and the town of Pickering was very charming with a surprising number of interesting attractions. There was a castle, a museum and, the point of the trip, a now famous classic car auction site (Matthewsons)."

"A great welcome by Karen into their stunning home with tea and biscuits in the residents sitting room! Our bedroom was very well furnished and excellent taste in decor with pieces of antique furniture. Very comfortable bed, super large bathroom with amenities. Wonderful breakfast selection in an amazing dining room… the Cornmill is a unique and fascinating property with the mill water wheel on show through a secure glass viewing area! What is no5 to love?!!"

"Loved the B&B, owners were friendly, rooms clean and it is such a quaint setting. Stone throw away from train station. Food was lovely. Set in a small village so it’s quiet. It is quite hilly so be aware if you have mobility issues. "

"Very few properties are perfect and this property had a few issues, but these pale in comparison to the convenience, location, professionalism, and cleanliness. The staff more were truly amazing and they themselves deserve five stars. They were accommodating, considerate, professional, efficient, kind, and truly represented the very best of York. I would be inclined to make these apartments my go to place for any future visits to York."

"Perfect location next to the pub which does fantastic food. Very high end cottage in both style & comfort, very clean too & having a courtyard for the dogs was great as we could sit outside with them. Would definitely stay again. "

Best hotel in York

"We love this hotel and stay every time we visit York if possible. We have tried several others and none quite meet the standard of the Malmaison. We always book the Club Deluxe rooms as they are very spacious, with separate sitting area and huge bathrooms with separate bath and shower, and little touches like Ferrero Rocher, water and Nespresso in the rooms. The location is great and the staff are always friendly, helpful and professional. Also to note, the cocktails are outstanding!"

"There's always a warm welcome at The Minster Hotel, the staff can't do enough for you. The breakfast was excellent as always and even being Coeliac didn't spoil my experience as they catered well for me. The room was lovely and clean and had everything we needed. There is secure parking on the premises, to the rear, which is great as you can leave your car there during your stay and it's only a very short walk to the centre of the city. We have stayed a number of times and will continue to stay in the future 😊 "
