"This hotel is handy for chinatown and is walking distance to the harbour area and sannomiya station. Motomachi station is about a 3 minute walk away. The breakfast buffet has a good selection of dishes and the bed was comfortable. Even for a Japanese hotel, the room was very cramped for 2 people travelling with carry-on sized suitcases. As for the onsen - if you have tattoos you can only bathe between 11pm and 3am, which I honestly found quite insulting. "

"I had a wonderful visit at the Portopia Hotel. My room had all of the toiletries I needed plus a set of pajamas and slippers. When I ordered room service, the staff came to my room to take my order. I would definitely recommend this hotel as an American visiting Japan. However, it is on Port Island so I had to tax in Kobe."

"It was a beautiful family-run ryokan offering waters from Arima Onsen right to our room, with a beautiful view over the little town. It was relaxing for my family to enjoy and be together, and I imagine it would make a beautiful romantic getaway. The special kaiseki dinner was one of the best I had during my stay in Japan. If you’re into the onsen experience with an understated but delightfully charming and luxurious stay, book this place! "
