"We chose a bad day to go, there was a Christmas fare on in a marquee in the grounds and the place was packed out with every available member of staff busy in the restaurant, so there was no one mannig the reception, so, we did as the notice on the door said and asked a member of staff to check us in, and although she was rushed of her feet she got us checked in along with another couple who had also arrived. "Our room was beautiful. It had a king size bed and the en-suite bathroom was a good size. The only downside was that the toilet flush handle was broken but still worked. It could have done with better lighting in the bathroom as you couldn’t see in the mirror very well. The room was immaculately clean and had a sofa and tv with easy to connect to WiFi. Personally I struggled with comfort of the bed as I found it too soft but it was dressed with clean sheets and had extra pillows in the wardrobe....

Although property is old fashioned, my single room, with en suite was very clean and bed was comfortable The breakfast cerea,l yogurt etc was an unexpected bonus. "Great apartment in great house. Everything was comfortable and clean. It had a little kitchenette which we didn't use but it would have been useful for a longer stay. I have marked you down 1 star on Communications as I could find the information regarding check out time on the last day and it was hard to find it online, it said 11am in one place and 12 noon another. I had to go to the Holiday Inn checkout next door and ask them in person. "

"All in all nice little cottage for a couple and good as was pet friendly to go up Durham to visit our son up uni and take our dog to see him too.
