"A very different experience for a foreigner, and one that I cherished as a student of Buddhism. If you aren’t adventurous, I don’t recommend it, and if you go, please be curious, open, and full of respect. "Had a good one night stay here. I was worried it wouldn’t be enough time to see everything i wanted too, but it turned out to be perfect. You can drop off your luggage before and after you check in which is really nice. Highlights for me were the public bath, and morning ceremony."

"This ryokan was very spacious and was located in the heart of Dotonbori. The staff were very friendly and the property was clean. The halls had a bit of a strange smell, but the room itself was fantastic and had a stunning view of the river."

"Whenever we return to Kobe from US, we stay here at least a couple of days. We always look forward to the quiet atmosphere, excellent buffet for morning and/or evening, or ala carte (menu is very extensive) restaurant. We love the Onsen, of course! This is one of the main reasons we come back to Kobe Minato Onsen Ren. Staff are always courteous and polite. We are planning to stay again in April this year. Looking forward to it very much!"

"This will have to be my most favorite part of my trip to Japan. You will have to intentionally come here for the temple stay. First and foremost, the facility will ONLY ACCEPT CASH payment for the stay. Though my wife and I were not too fond of the shared wash rooms to wash up. I don’t believe the facility has rooms with private wash rooms. The staff was exceptionally nice and helpful. They offer traditional breakfast and dinner(vegan friendly, though I am not, very delicious!). Wake up...

"Really lovely ryokan and onsen with beautiful ocean views. The futons were very comfortable, as well. It's a little outside of Wakayama city (about 30 minutes/¥3500 by taxi), but there is a nearby bus and they have a parking area if you are driving. The staff speaks a little English, but don't expect the same level of English that you might get at a larger, urban hotel. Overall, it was very relaxing and I would definitely recommend it."

"It was nearly empty so we were upgraded. Usually I think there would be a lot of people. Rooms were excellent and service good. Food was simple but for the price I can’t complain. "

"It’s worth noting that this is not a normal hotel but a traditional pilgrim’s lodging, so it is expected that you sleep on a mat on the floor and the facilities are relatively basic. You are staying here for the experience. The property was clean with onsen (hot bath) provided and our room had its own toilet/sink. Our only complaint is that they no longer serve food and we were not notified of this despite this being part of our booking, however we found a restaurant for dinner walking distance...

"Our room was big and clean and the staff was friendly, overall the temple lodge was s great experience. Koyasan is a truly magical place to visit."

"We got to stay here for the night of news years eve and enjoyed a vegetarian dinner. My husband cannot eat any wheat or gluten so the monks made sure he had a special vegetable dish with no soy sauce. The rooms were at first cold but with the heaters warmed up nicely. The hot baths were nice. We enjoyed walking the town and seeing the various shrines and temples and large cemetery too. The huge cypress trees were amazing. And the cemetery was lit at night too. "We enjoyed the ryokan very much for the authenticity of old Japan. The dinner and breakfast were outstanding. Wearing the yutaka at the property was such a thrill for us. The staff were so friendly, kind and attentive. Thank you for your hospitality. We enjoyed our stay immensely. Such a contrast from the hustle and bustle of Tokyo and Osaka central. And the view from the 5th floor! Breathtaking. Very convenient to be shuttled from the train station. Thank you again. "

"It is close to a JR station and a metro station, convenient to get around Osaka and to places outside Osaka. The area is also quiet, the room is clean and appliances provided were thoughtful and useful. There are also food places nearby. We enjoyed our stay and would stay again."

"This is the second time I stay in this hotel. I love their rainfall shower head. It’s so nice! I also take hot baths in the tub. Ofuro is great! They have a great lounge. They have a lively roster of activities, though I’ve always been busy to participate. I’ve chosen to have their breakfast both times. Totally worth it! They have healthy options. I love their eggs with the salmon salad. Delicious! The hotel smells very nice. They pay special attention to it. I always find it very relaxing. All the staff have always been very helpful and polite. The hotel is right next door to the Kitahama Metro station and there is a taxi stand right in front. I hope to come back!"

"This hotel was very clean. We booked a single bed room and it was itty bitty. We understand this is how most hotels are in Japan, but it was still a shock. Bathroom was comfortable and pristine. It was pretty conveniently located and we could easily walk to the train and bus stations."
