"Great ryokan, but when I tried out one of the private onsens there were many tiles missing from the wall and there was an unpleasant smell. The public onsen (men’s) was lovely and everything was in good condition, so the quality of the private onsen seemed limited to that one spot. There are 4 other private onsens I did not try out. Staff was helpful and professional. Lots of charm to this place."

"Overall a very wonderful Ryokan expierence! We paid for both the dinner and breakfast, both of which were very sensible and delicious. I do believe that it is worth the extra added cost, especially the dinner, which is served in our room. The breakfast was served in a dining room on the 2nd floor, which was still nice but definitely a different feeling. "Staff was over the top friendly and helpful. They allowed us to store our bags before and after check in/check out so that we could go explore Kyoto without having to haul our stuff around. They were also very helpful to help us acquire a taxi big enough for 6 and provide local restaurant recommendations. We were on the road side and so the rooms had quite a bit of traffic noise, but other than that everything was great. "

"This ryokan was very spacious and was located in the heart of Dotonbori. The staff were very friendly and the property was clean. The halls had a bit of a strange smell, but the room itself was fantastic and had a stunning view of the river."

"I cannot speak highly enough about this ryokan. From check in to check out the staff was very attentive to our needs and helpful with whatever we needed. The rooms were clean and traditional style, but included a tv with streaming services, which I loved as a traveler! And the onsen was like heaven after walking around Kyoto in February. It was always clean and well organized. When I come back to Japan, I will def stop here to rest!"

"The only thing is the property is not very clean. But it is part of it being old and a little under maintaned. Otherwise a wonderful choice. I stayed 2 weeks ans went to Kyoto everyday without any issues. Fantastic! Will be back! "

"As a family of four with two boys under 8, this was the perfect hotel. The theme was board games, and the boys had so much fun. The room was nice, with bunk beds for the kids and super comfortable futons. But the most enjoyable part was the staff. They were so helpful from the time we checked in to the time we left in a taxi. They took the time to research the best Beyblade shops, an amazing breakfast cafe, and even tips on how to best experience Universal Studios. We felt cared for above...
