"Very quiet and and clean. Typical English cottage taken from a history movie, with a homey feeling. Loved staying there. Walked to town easily when the weather was good, or took the buss (station very close). Would love to stay there again when visiting York. "

"I recommend ASHBOURNE HOUSE most highly. Location 10-15 minutes walk from centre of York. Environment, room temperature , cleanliness excellent. . Proprietors very warm and friendly. I am VERY satisfied with my stay at Ashbourne House. "

"Fantastic stay, close to all the highlights of york, could not fault the accommodation. Both of proprietors are amazing and make you very welcome. We stayed in dec and the place was nicely decorated for Christmas, the gingerbread scent in the hallway was lovely. The accommodation is very clean and tidy with all you need for a comfortable stay."

"A little bit out of the way, but only a short walk to the Shambles, bus stops, and lots of shopping and restaurants. I was happy with my stay. "

"Avoid this place! Rooms were dirty there was mould all over the bathroom couple of weed smokers were in other rooms and it smelled disgusting we didn’t even spend more than 20 minutes there and they didn’t give a refund. "

"Perfect location just a short bus ride into York. Jack & Ellie are the perfect hosts, nothing was too much trouble. Tea & coffee facilities available in the room which was very comfortable. Breakfast is a help yourself but Jack is on hand if you need anything. Fresh fruit and yogurts, cereals, juice etc are available. Jack recommended places to eat, which were absolutely spot on. Food in all recommended places was excellent. This is a little gem of a place to stay, while not in the city centre...

"The apartment is in an excellent location right by the river, two minutes walk from several restaurants and five minutes walk to York centre. It was lovely and warm and the garage a huge bonus. The kitchen was well equipped. We were surprised that there was no welcome pack as is standard in self catering accommodation and the kettle was heavily lime scaled. We bought some descaler but it needs several attempts so we had to use a pan to heat water for drinks. The person in the accommodation...
