"Our room was very very warm when we arrived but we managed to cool it down by opening windows and turning off the heating and towel rail. The room was very clean and spacious, and a lovely view."

"It is near to city centre in a quiet road. Large Victorian/Edwardian house. However the bedrooms are incredibly small, and dividing walls are not soundproof. I am a size 16 and 5'6" tall but cd barely fit into the shower. I didnt bother. Good fryup for breakfast but no fruit offered, no meusli, no plain yoghurt"

"Good value for money. The main opportunity for improvement is their service. When we arrived, no one was available to give us our key. There was a phone number to call on the front door. We called for about half an hour repeatedly with no answer and were considering going to another accommodation. We thought we had been scammed. We were tired, cold and unhappy. "Great location,just 2 minute walk from York minster and the city. Nice double room, en suite. Impeccably clean and tidy. Breakfast was fantastic, selection of fruit,cereals yoghurt etc. and a full English. Limited amount of parking available which was a great bonus. Highly recommended and wouldn't hesitate to stay again. Seemed to be a few returning guests whilst I was there,which is no surprise. And finally, what fantastic hosts in Alan and Julie. "Simon was extremely helpful, very friendly & welcoming. Thank you. We are returning customers and will continue to return, it’s in an ideal location for everything and everywhere, close to the theatre and shops, 1 bedroom apartment with plenty of space. The only downfall is the music from the club behind but if you can handle a bit of noise from the music and students then it’s well worth a stay"

"The property offered good value for money, was 5 minutes walk from the Minster and city centre. Parking was free outside the place and the staff were attentive and polite. The carpet in our room had a few coffee stains by each bedside table, the bed was very comfy though and the room was quiet. We would definitely book to come again. "This is a beautiful property, located conveniently close to the station and a short walk to York's historic city center. Staff was very friendly and helpful and the breakfast buffet was exceptional. We would happily stay in The Grand, York on any future visit."

"Very nice hotel. Very good location, 5 mins to the train station, shops and eatery places within walking distance of 5 mins. Staff very friendly especially in the restaurant. Booked half board, the food was delicious and well worth the money, 2 course meal and breakfast. One thing I would say, we booked the family room but there's no doors to the entrance to the bathroom and shower area, just doors for the toilet room and bedrooms!! Worth mentioning so people know. They should consider having some doors or blinds for privacy, but otherwise, very good stay and comfortable and convenient to everything "

"We were celebrating my Husband’s 60th Birthday, and were given the lovely surprise of an upgrade plus a welcome treat in our room. It’s good to see the Hotel is continually improving the look of the Hotel by upgrading the flooring and extra new touches at breakfast. Big shout out to Rekah a staff member who is so welcoming."
