"This hotel is a hidden gem. It is quaint and charming, and actually delivers a unique experience to customers. It is only 15 mins out of Wanaka and you could drive past without noticing it. We stayed in the Captain's room hidden behind the hotel in a lovely garden area. The room was little but very cosy and beautifully quirky with little thoughtful touches. We indulged in the hot tub before our delicious dinner and enjoyed the view of the mountain peaks. Having stayed in other top rated hotels around the South Island, we cannot recommend this place more highly as it stands out as not just excellent value for money but also creating a lasting memory of somewhere very different in a world of uniform experiences."

"The Carrick Lodge is very close to the start of the Dunstan Lake cycle trail, a brief walk from two bicycle outfitters and across the street from several restaurants. Our room was clean, well stocked with the necessities and the small kitchen met the needs of two travelers perfectly. We'll be back to stay again."
