"Our stay was in mid-March and the hotel was very quiet at that time. Our room on the ground floor was very convenient for the hotel pool which had a hot tub and sauna. The pool water was a bit too cold but the hot tub and sauna were very good. There are walking trails and a small lake nearby which is great for birdwatching. Also views of a ruined castle within walking distance. Restaurant food was nicely presented."

"Kippford is a pretty village on a beautiful river estuary and the location of Thornleigh is stunning - a stones throw from the beach where we swam and paddle boarded. The house is very spacious and well equipped with amazing views to appreciate the sunsets. The house is comfortable rather than luxurious but that suited us perfectly as we could relax and feel at home and we have all agreed that we will make Thornleigh an annual event!"

"Great llocation directly across road from shell beach,plenty parking space.Road from kippford to house very narrow little traffic,Everything needed for stay supplied. Agree with other reviews re house feeling damp and living room furniture not the most comfortable, Plenty to do in area segway,bike hire.museum in Dalbeattie worth visiting. Large front garden good for dogs and grandkids to play in"
