"Check in for our one night stay was very quick and efficient and the receptionist kindly offered us some free drinks from the bar as we were celebrating our wedding anniversary. We accepted these and took them later after we had eaten dinner. We would have stayed longer in the bar had it not shut disappointingly early at around 11pm. The service was good though. "A lovely relatively quiet old manor house, just off the M11. Rooms well insulated for heat, 2 windows didn’t close easily in my room, but other guests seemed to slam them shut. Bed was huge and very comfortable; the bathroom was clean and the domestic staff maintained the room daily. I did drive past a couple of times as i thought the main iron gates were a service entrance, but not. Its a sharp turn into the 'drive' and pull up to the gates which will open automatically.
