"Lovely historic building in a private gated courtyard off high street shopping area. Despite the busy streets outside, our room was very quiet. Staff were always helpful. Because of it being a 1700s building, there is no lift so be prepared for a narrow winding staircase to access most rooms."

"Our room was clean and comfortable. It was a good size and set up for a family as we needed. We were disappointed that the spa was closed, an odd decision to close the spa at the weekend when travellers are most likely to want to use it. Breakfast was a little underwhelming but plenty to choose from. The cereal packets were quite a long way out of date. The traffic was quite loud from our room at the front of the hotel. A room at the back would be much better to be able to sleep through. Just...

"Fantastic hotel Def our favourite in York, location is amazing and the breakfast is do die for Sets you up for the day. This is our second time in two years at this hotel and we will only stay here. It's not cheap £450 for two nights but at Christmas time....who cares."
