"The hotel staff were very helpful getting the sofa bed made up. Great that there is a gym and a swimming pool. The steam room next to the pool was perfect for after a long day. The swimming pool itself was too warm in my opinion so we didn't use it. The beds were very comfortable and the room very clean. The toilet and bathroom were split so there was no sink in the toilet which was weird. You have to walk to the bathroom to wash your hands. Breakfast had lots of vegan options, although...

"I'm a bit torn with this because I paid twice as much as I usually do for hotel when visiting up North as on this particular occasion I wanted to use a pool/spa area to relax. We arrived at 2:10pm to find the room wasn't ready (stated 2pm check in) and wasn't ready until 2:45pm. Gym was alright, lacking a few key bits IMO but it's a hotel gym so can't grumble. Pool, hot tub etc were all great. The room itself the shower screen was knackered to put it best, leaking water and needed seals...

"Great location and easy access, lots to do close by. Hotel was clean and bar area well set up for good and watching sports. Reception was manual but staff on standby to help and assist. Room was clean and tidy however not much wardrobe space as there wasn’t one with only a rail for clothing, bed was ok for a short stay but a bit too hard and uncomfortable for any longer. Overall would stay again and worth the money."

"Fantastic stay at Oulton Hall, much better than Slaley Hall in our opinions. Very pleasant staff and little touches to make you feel welcome like the complementary drinks in the fridge and Prosecco and fruit in reception. Could have done with some more bar staff for a busy day evening as waited quite a while for drinks and the jacuzzi button moving to the actual jacuzzi (I know there be a reason why isn’t) but otherwise perfect 👍 "

"We booked this as somewhere nice to stay ahead of a family commitment in Sheffield. Whilst the hotel looks very nice in the pictures, there were some let-downs that did not meet expectations:- Towel rail and key slot to enable room electrics were broken. Towel rail could not be fixed so towels could not be dried. Several rooms nearby had multiple dogs in that were barking loudly for a lot of the time. "Really lovely hotel, brilliant staff. Nicky who was front of house was excellent and really friendly. Made time to speak to me and my family, including the kids. Only downside was they didn't have robes for the spa in the family room we were in. But did have towels, so we made do with those"
