"Beautiful building but sadly needs a lot of upgrading, rather outdated and shabby furniture and fittings. Lots of noise with children running around the corridors. The restaurant though made the stay the food and service were first class. The leisure facilities also need a face lift. "

"Really enjoyed our two-night stay in one of the turret suites. The hotel was still beautifully decorated for Christmas but very peaceful being a few days after Hogmanay. Overall condition of the building is excellent, especially given its age and historic nature, which must make it a real challenge to maintain. Our room, bathroom and the turret lounge above were very clean and well presented. Excellent comfy super-king bed. Public rooms were lovely - warm and welcoming. Swimming pool area...
