"I took my brother to Japan, and I wanted him to experience a traditional "ryokan", and even though the IROHA Hotel has "hotel" in the name, it is very much a ryokan with tatami floors in the rooms, shoji and fusuma doors, and you sleep on futons. There is a communal bath in the hotel in addition to the "unit baths" (with commode, sink, and shower/bath) in the rooms. "Quiet cultural experience. We were the only foreigners we could see. Beautiful property, view and area. Not a lot of places to visit but enough for 1-2 days. FYI This property is not at the Nikko city but the Nikko area. Large buffet and free drinks. Beds on the floor and daughter was really on the floor but all part of experience. If you want a quiet experience away from the city then this is great- even better with small children as has a pool park next door. "

"Very convenient location to Utsunomiya station. Checkin was seamless. The usual smallish business hotel room. Although it had a better layout than other places we've stayed, which made it easier with our luggage. Room vacuuming seems a bit slapdash as we found hair on the floor around the room. Breakfast buffet was excellent and the restaurant staff were fantastic. Like most business hotels the pillows were the flat buckwheat style, so not great. "
