There's especially so much to see around here that you definitely can make great use of your JR Pass while staying here. I also recommend the Katsu Restaurant in the 3rd floor of the station, it's to die for. Had a great time!"

"Wonderful ryokan-style hotel. Stayed for 2 nights with half-board, and the meals (dinner and breakfast) were excellent. The staff were attentive and engaging, taking the time to introduce the dinner menu to us. Chose this place for my children's first ski experience. Just a 30-minute drive to Shiga Kogen where all the ski resorts are. The hotel offers both indoor and outdoor onsens. Simply superb for a hot, relaxing soak after a day on the ski slopes. Highly recommended! "
