"Least expensive room I could find in Zihuatanejo for one night. It was very basic but quite clean and comfortable. AC worked. About a 10 minute walk to downtown or the waterfront, and I felt safe enough walking around the area as a solo woman. Has a small pool which is kind of enclosed in the same area as the parking lot, so no views, but it seemed clean (I didn’t use it.) Balcony off of my room had a street view. Perfectly acceptable budget stay. "

"We liked that it was right next to a market. Though busy during the day it was fairly quiet. Plus the market closes at 7pm, so it gets very quiet at a decent time. "This hotel is ok. You can’t expect too much at this category of hotel. It’s just across the street from the main Centro of Zihua, so the location is good. There aren’t a lot of extras though - it’s a budget hotel and that’s what you get. Clean enough, comfortable enough. A little worn. The fridge and 2-burner cooktop are helpful, with sink. (Didn’t use). "

"My travel planning usually pays off, but Bungalow's in the Zihuataneo/Ixtapa area was a HUGE exception. As a Google Local Guide, I know to verify a hotel room or short-term rental in person before payment. What I found? A disgusting, moldy room, nothing like the online photos. What a sunset. Totally raw, unedited magic in the sky that night. This region of Mexico is one of my favorite regions to explore because of the great surfing and the amazing food and people. Not in that order. Also, this retreat center is spectacular. They make amazing smoothies and do massages and yoga. Do it.
