"Our room was freshly painted and bathroom very tight, but not bad for a quick overnight stay! The manager/owner of the property did us the big favor of holding our luggage for a few hours after check-out. The area is great! Lots of great and cozy restaurants and bars, including a small but cool shopping area near by. Lastly, my wife left her Apple watch in the room and great to know it was kept safe with manager/owner. We appreciate the excellent customer service! "

"We booked last minute due to having to cancel our trip into France because they closed the station due to finding an unexploded bomb from WWII. With that being said it was our first time staying in a hostel and we were pleasantly surprised how nice it was. The rooms are small of course if you are traveling with lots of luggage which we were. St. James's Church - Stanstead Abbotts, Herts. Sited a mile away from its village, St James’ was the parish church for at least 700 years until St Andrew’s, nearer the centre, replaced it in 1882. Picturesque on its hilltop and largely ignored by the Victorians, it is a marvellously atmospheric church. The building dates from the 12th to the 16th centuries and the 15th century timbered porch is notable. Inside are unusually high Georgian box pews, a three-decker pulpit, texts, hatchments, old glass and monuments of many periods.
