"It's like staying with your elderly, bachelor uncle whom you have been visiting since childhood - there is a very, very slight musty smell about the spacious and old-fashioned room, the retro room heater and the same VCR player is still there after all these years (as well as the stain you accidentally put on his papered doors as a child). "This was a cosy, comfy stay for 1 night. Although the owner couldn't speak English, and I can't speak proficient Japanese, the communication worked with the help of translation apps. Although it was snowing outside, the heating in the room warmed us up quickly. Note to say that the walls are quite thin, as you'd expect in a traditionally built Japanese building, so you can for sure hear other guests snoring. Didn't bother me at all though. Was a nice stay. Fuji to boot (though our view was partially obstructed by an electric pole and transformer). It is a bit hard to find, and gave our cabbie a run for his money (we were driving in from another train stop). Better signage is a must! The tiny letters at the front door are better than nothing but not by much. There are several (4?) “apartments” situated in a single building,...
