"Good location"

"A magical Hawaii experience in a fantasy luxury resort. It has aged a bit, but it is still just amazing. The lagoon with its beach. The waterfall. The dolphins. The extensive swimming pool, with its slide and hanging bridge. The expansive property. The audacious design. The connecting train. The ocean front scenery. Sunset dining. Luau, if you want it (we had dinner instead). Beautiful and large rooms with balconies. Some drawbacks? It has aged a bit. The connecting boats next to the train no longer seems to run, sadly. Asking for tips at breakfast? Annoying. C’mon, I already paid plenty of money for everything, leave me alone now, let me enjoy! The 20$ threat for not returning towels — seriously? It is not checked anyways — but what do you think I am, a thief? I feel insulted. Plus, if someone wants to take a towel, how much is this really hurting your bottom line? The property felt a bit empty, but fine: more to enjoy yourself."

"This was our second stay at this beautiful property. We stayed for 3 weeks and enjoyed every minute! We had everything we needed at this lovely home. We loved the hot tub especially in the evening when we could star gaze! The sky was beautiful! We were a short drive to Honokaa and played several rounds of golf at the unique golf course (Hamakua country club). Overall, we had the most wonderful time and are planning on returning next year! Mahalo! "

"The staff were incredible - so friendly and helpful. This was my first time ever staying in a resort like this but they explained everything well and were really attentive. It’s a beautiful property. The dining options felt a little limited when I was there because one of the two restaurants that serve food beyond breakfast was closed and there isn’t much around, although I had a rental car and was able to travel. Also, the resort fee and what it allegedly pays for is disappointing - although I don’t think that’s all on this one property since it’s become standard practice. But for example, they said the resort fee paid for the tote bag and water bottle you receive along with the juice and cold towel and some other items that were just kinda basic. The resort fee isn’t optional but also saying it’s paying for the things that are the least enticing about the stay doesn’t make it easier to pay. "

"Cottage was equipped with everything you would need and more. It was immaculately clean and thoughtfully decorated. The property is quiet and peaceful. I very much enjoyed the large covered deck. The three bedroom Ohana is on the same property, but the layout and landscaping makes it private and quiet. Yes, as one reviewer mentioned, you’ll find that Waimea is cooler at night…. In Hawaii, If you are staying at higher altitude, then you’ll have cooler nights for sleeping. The cottage is equipped with nice down comforters so you’ll have a cozy nights sleep. Personally I love Waimea. It’s a beautiful area that is so completely different than the coast. It’s a great place to stay if you want some variety from the beach, yet It’s only about 15 minutes drive to Hapuna Beach. Wherever you stay on the big island, you’ll be driving. Waimea is a nice jumping off spot to drive to Hawi or along the coast down to the Hilo side. Laura is the epitome of hospitality and customer service! She’s a terrific host and an excellent and prompt communicator. I would definitely stay here again."
