"The room was very well-prepared and the owner is kind and helpful, and seems like she has some interesting stories to tell. I was hoping the bar would be a gathering spot for all the guests, but I never saw it open (appears to be by reservation?) That we were encouraged to return by 9 PM was also a bit onerous (given it is 30 minutes from the city centre), but an understandable part of the guesthouse experience."

Few things could be improved. Check in instructions were sent in Japanese only and we needed some codes to access the place so it wasn’t straight forward. "We stayed for two nights in one of the traditional rooms with kaiseki and it was one of the best experiences we have had anywhere in the world. The food was amazing and the staff were very polite and professional. Walking through the park from the front door or into town is also great! The private baths were super relaxing. I also recommend having the staff order you a massage and you will not be disappointed!"
