"Short walks to the cathedral and central old town. A little noisy during high commute, about 1/2 hour per day. Excellent budget option; self checkin went well for me, but the locked outer courtyard door has potential for hang up day of check in. Staff friendly."

"The four bed room house was amazing, the staff is friendly and helpful, most of all the view of the mountains and lake are a wonder to wake up to in the morning. Downside is a boat is the only why to reach it, do not follow the GPS up the mountain, stop at the pier. The stairs up from the dock up to the house are in water and will move with the waves, the dock will move too. "

"It was a scam. When we showed up at the location it was supposed to be at, there was an elementary school. When we called the number in the contact info, a woman answered who had no idea what this place was and all of the locals we asked for help didn’t know the place either. "

"Casa de Don Moncho refused to allow us to check in because our bus from Managua arrived late. They left us stranded late at night without a room. I've lodged a complaint with INGUAT (the Guatemalan tourism department) and learned that this hotel IS NOT A LICENSED HOTEL and DOES NOT HAVE THE PERMITS TO OPERATE AS A HOTEL IN ANTIGUA. Now the hotel is keeping my money instead of reimbursing me for the 14 nights they denied me. Tip- there are LOTS of hotels in Antigua, find another one."

"We arrived on the day of our booking and the manager of the hotel told us that they don't work with Expedia. I had a text and email confirmation of our booking and he told us that does not matter. He told us his hostel was completely full and did not care to help us at all. They also advertise as having free parking, and when we arrived he told us the hostel does not provide parking. Very bad customer service, completely unorganized and not helpful."

"This was my first time staying at this hotel, and my family and I had a wonderful stay. The location is at a perfect distance from restaurants. I booked a room with two beds and it was very spacious and clean. The hotel is very cozy and the decoration is absolutely amazing! Lots of plants around which I loved the most. The staff was very attentive and responsive at all times. Thank you Abi and Wendy for all your attentions and hospitality. We are definitely coming back to this hotel next time we visit Antigua. "

One of the Finest Hotels Anywhere

"The Hotel Santo Domingo in Antigua Guatemala is one of the finest I have had the honor to stay at. In itself, this hotel is a trip back in time as it is built 'within' a centuries-old Spanish Colonial monastery. The historical buildings, furnishings, and environment are carefully protected. At the same time, this hotel has incorporated all the latest comforts for which even the most demanding customer could possibly ask. Do yourself a favor and stay at this hotel, or, at the very least, come by and have lunch or dinner and look around - it is an experience in itself that you will never forget. "

"We had an incredible time at our stay. The hotel is even nicer in person! So charming! The staff always friendly and attentive. Our room was gorgeous!
