"We stayed two nights at The Marquess of Exeter on our way home from the west country. The room was lovely, very comfortable and clean. We ate there both evenings and the food was excellent. Lyddington is a very pretty little village, we enjoyed walking with our dog around by the church and in the countryside. We requested a downstairs room which had the advantage of doors into the gardens, this was very helpful to take our dog outside. The gardens do need tidying up but I expect they will do that as the weather gets warmer and customers want to sit outside. Would definitely stay there again. "

"I stayed here for two nights with my husband on our way down south. He is from the area and wanted to see Rutland Water. We visited various parts of the reservoir and really enjoyed seeing the area around. The hotel was also walkable distance from the museum so it was good to be able to visit that, especially when it started to rain. Oakham is a nice town. although we didn't do any shopping we went to a nice cafe and good Indian restaurant one night. We had a very nice meal at the hotel on our first night and enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere of the place. Our room was very nice with nice furnishings and the bed was comfortable. We would certainly stay at the hotel again next time we travel south."
