Very good old pub refurbished to a high standard. Very cosy lively on bar and quieter relaxing restaurant at the rear of the building. Excellent evening meal and breakfast. Room was very comfortable.
An unexpected fantastic stay after reading some other reviews. It was probably one of the busiest weekends being the last before Christmas and we had a warm and friendly welcome, excellent and very quick service. The food was fantastic, my steak was cooked perfectly and our room was so comfortable. Breakfast was also brilliant. This will be our first port of call when back in the area!
Great location, nice pub, great location welcoming and helpful staff, room quality was “ok” but decor was tired, chips, damage and dings, it looks like it could do at least with heavy duty decor maintenance or a revamp to be honest. Loud noises from the bins being emptied at 7am lost the “quiet” rating for us.
We felt very welcome at The Admiral Hornblower. Shauna checked us in and was so friendly and helpful. She was great behind the bar, too. And the next morning we were served by Alex, another lovely lady. The breakfast selection was varied and delicious. A fantastic stay – we will be back.
Lovely place with cosy, clean rooms. The breakfast was superb, and is situated centrally to everything in Oakham. Highly recommended 👍👍👍👍👍

Disliked: Property conditions & facilities
Pub was nice, accommodation not. Room opened onto car park which was littered. Glass in door was damaged. 2 small windows in room overlooked a wall, in front of which was an old mattress & various bits of rubbish. Pillows were awful, lumpy & old. In the bathroom we had hot, cloudy water out of the cold tap when first turned on & both taps dripped. This was reported to management along with the fact that the shower water leaked from the bottom of the shower head, which was also impossible to move so had to remove it from the bracket to shower. Heated towel rail didn’t work. Only good thing about the room was that the bedding & towels were very clean and tea & coffee were provided, although the kettle had limescale in the bottom. Would never stay here again but would happily eat in the pub, food was great.
Great location and lovely accommodation. There were problems with getting a drink in the evening and service at breakfast both days was really slow. However the breakfast when it arrived was delicious! Hopefully these service issues can be sorted out
