"Beautiful historic building "

"Have stayed here before however this time I’m not as impressed. The room was so very hot. The bed was very uncomfortable so I didn’t sleep well at all. The net curtain in the room is ripped. The toilet seat didn’t stay up without being held. There was dark mould around the bottom of the shower screen. And the extraction fan in the bathroom didn’t work. The staff were lovely and very friendly. "

"After a late arrival we were informed that the pool, sauna, steam room and gym were all still open which was a nice welcome after a long drive. We followed this by a drink in the bar area, service was noticeably stretched this particular evening due to a wedding party (possibly two), and an 80th birthday celebration meaning tables were not getting cleared and bar service was slow. "Noisy heating system and water taps , not a quiet building but a fair price. Comfortable beds and clean kitchen utensils and crockery , very good location for our needs. Limited parking spaces just next door at Holiday Inn "

"The Carlton is in the process of being renovated. The alternative accommodation across the road was an excellent replacement. Very well presented, clean funky and functional more than adequate for a brief visit. Right in the heart of Jesmond,"
