"I stayed at Selina/Socialtel San Jose for about a week until the 28th of January 2025 and my Spirit Animal for the stay was a Sloth because I did mostly nothing in the morning, then took a rest in the afternoon. "The linens were clean, however upon arrival there was no running water. There was a large crack in the room under the outside door, I had to stuff a blanket there so animals would not come in. The floors were dirty along with the showers and toilets. The social environment was poor. "

"This hostel was great for the 2 nights I stayed. The bus stop is right outside the property and can take you to the beach for less than $1. You can also walk to the beach but I don’t recommend since it is very hilly and there really isn’t a sidewalk. Our room was clean and had everything we needed. Staff is very helpful and answered all our questions about the town dining potions etc. "

"This establishment should not be able to operate. The condition of the place is very bad: there was no water, the toilet is broken, the shower wires were exposed, there was a whole in the wall next to the bed and all of this happens at the best room they have available, normally at 40 USD per night. This place has not been properly maintained in years. I left the place as soon as I could."

"Really good place to stay if you want to be right in the middle of the city where the locals are. Even with the hustle and bustle of the area really quite hotel. I stayed in the hostel which is good for 1 or 2 nights. Was also allowed to check in early. Museums are really close to the hotel. As well as el mercado central. "
