Our only criticism is that we we’re originally told the restaurant would be open the first night we were there and it wasn’t. "A relaxing place to stay! The grounds were beautiful and staff was great. I would say that having a car is important if you plan on using this as your home base to explore Tuscany. "Podere Castallare is in a beautiful location. Unfortunately we did not have a relaxing stay. Music was played at full volume directly into our bedroom from the bar from around 4pm - 11pm every day. It was so loud we could not spend time in our room. The air conditioner was broken and not fixed. We were treated rudley at dinner by the manager, which added to the tension in the atmosphere."

"Das Haus liegt in einer Schlucht am Ende des Dorfes. Wer die Abgeschiedenheit liebt, ist in dieser Lage gut aufgehoben. Allerdings müssen an der Ausstattung des Hauses dringend Erneuerungen vorgenommen werden. Sehr alte Möbel und die Räume sind ausgesprochen finster. Besonders die Küche und das Bad Bedarf einer Überholung. In der Küche findet man nur alte, minderwertige Dinge. Weder Wasserkocher noch Toaster ist vorhanden. Aufgrund der Lage am Bach und Waldrand ist man den Insekten ausgesetzt."

"Had a great time again with our family and the dogs. The house may not be the most modern, but it’s clean and huge, and so is the domain with its large terrace and amazing view. Roberto and Alicia are very helpful and are very respectful for you privacy. The region is perfect for hiking and mountain biking, and the restaurants and shops are not very expensive. So I would truly recommend this place is your into the true Italian rural /nature experience . We will definitely come back."

"I had a truly wonderful experience staying at Castellare for two weeks with some friends and my parents. This was a trip that had to be postponed two years(!!) due to the pandemic, so it had some pretty high expectations to live up to, and it met them all.
