"We had a really relaxing time at the Kalyves beach hotel. What wasn’t clear to us at booking was the “all inclusive” and “all inclusive welcome gift” option. We went for the latter which gave us the “all inclusive plus” package at the hotel and was well worth the small extra cost, giving us unlimited cocktails, room upgrade and discount on the spa. Excellent value for money and still easily got enough for us (27c) at the end of September. The buffet food selection was great for us too as we could pick and choose what we wanted. We loved the stay and the entertainment in the night arranged by Momo was excellent too. Everyone was so friendly and keen to help we felt so looked after and pampered! Fully recommended!"

"The property was ideal for us, it had a lovely pool and was well located near some excellent tavernas in the nearby village. There was also a small bar /hotel a short walk from us where we could go and have a drink. The owner was helpful and the community were very friendly, we would definitely go back"

"Lovely place, great setting, pool is fantastic and has been improved since the photos were taken. Would recommend a car. Only small issue was with the kitchen and bbq, needs some more basic equipment, tongs decent knives etc. Don’t let that put you off though, was brilliant. "

"Just back from a wonderful holiday in this beautiful villa. Our first visit to Crete and it did not disappoint. The villa is a 30 min drive from Chania airport. Directions to the property were easy as were the instructions to let ourselves in. The villa itself is amazing and the photos do not do it justice. The house is spacious with large bedrooms which are all en suite. Each room has its own balcony which boasts incredible views and the seating on these make the perfect spot for cocktails at sundown. The communal space inside is also spacious and the adequate kitchen leads to the beautiful outdoor space. The pool is stunning, with plenty of loungers surrounding it. There are also covered eating and seating areas which shade from the sun when you need it. We also used the outdoor kitchen and enjoyed BBQs by the poolside taking in the views. The grounds are also beautifully kept with the gorgeous scent of jasmine making it even more divine. It is a short drive to the local town which has plenty of restaurants, shops, a small supermarket and a lovely beach. Parking here was also easy. The rest of the area is beautiful and the house is situated with easy access to other parts of the island which are worth exploring. Wendy was extremely helpful. We had a small issue with the water when we were there but she dealt with it immediately and with very little disruption to our holiday. Our only negative point was the number of beds. "We’ve just returned from two weeks in Crete, the second of which was spent at Villa Asteria. We’ve stayed in many places around the UK and Europe and this has been our favourite. It is a beautifully built villa in a stunning location with views of the White Mountains on one side and views down to Souda Bay and there are plenty of places at the property to sit and enjoy sunrise or sunset. The property inside is immaculate and built and kept to a very high standard indeed. A lot of thought and care has been put in by Samatha and Jerry into the villa and they also provided a very warm and friendly welcome and excellent communication ahead of the stay. The pool was lovely and in addition to the sun loungers and umbrellas, there were plenty of other shady spots under trees to escape the sun if needed (it was very hot during our stay), and there was always the bonus of bumping into one of Samantha and Jerry’s friendly pet cats in the shade! In terms of location, we enjoyed being somewhere more rural but still close to Chania and beaches. It felt a bit more like authentic Crete and that made the stay even more enjoyable. The time at Villa Astoria really made our holiday in Crete for us and as a family, we’d definitely recommend it."
