"Lovely hotel in a great location for York racecourse and a short taxi ride into the city centre (or 30 min walk). Rooms are very well appointed although the bathroom could be upgraded with dual flush toilet etc. Bed was very comfortable and noise was at a minimum. Staff are helpful and friendly. We like that the pool was open till 11pm"

"We booked a very last minute stay here. The drive into hotel is lovely and from the outside a lot of character. Inside main hotel was modernly decorated and still had character. We had a room in the coach house which is in the next building to the hotel. The room was quite dated compared to main hotel. Good sized room. A little dusty in areas. Plenty room for clothes. "As a type one diabetic who does not drink alcohol or coke my wife was unable to get a drink in the bar as there were no other sugar free options and the coffee/tea machine had been turned off.(10 o'clock ish).Other than this small matter an excellent stay was enjoyed by all."

Lovely hotel. Great location

"Excellent hotel made even better by a free upgrade. It is located in the Town of Helmsley great parking as they have their own underground car park. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful. We were given a free upgrade to a poolside suit which was fantastic. The hotel itself is very well maintained and feels very comfortable. We used the hotel bar which was well staffed comfortable and drinks were reasonably priced. We had breakfast in the hotel which was excellent and the staff friendly and helpful. Will certainly go again."
