"If you were expecting the latest and most modern amenities in a historic building, this might be one to pass on. However, for us the value and level of service were outstanding. The staff were polite and helpful, providing assistance and supplying forgotten toiletries. Breakfast was well supplied with variety and good quality. "This is a charming hotel with a smart, considerate staff. The public areas have nostalgic, turn of the century feel, but are clean and well-kept. One notable exception: the carpet in the elevator is threadbare and often littered with smuts. The neighborhood is a bit rough, but we never had any trouble. The in-house Polar Bar is a delight with excellent food and drink. "
