Clean apartment, some initial struggle with the front door key ‘technique’ but the video was helpful, could’ve done with a few more kitchen utensils / oven trays for self catering. "Old Kirkstead is a really nice spot which was enjoyed by kids and parents alike. We'd never been to this part of Scotland before but we'll be back for longer in the summer having only had three nights this time round. Hilary (the host) couldn't have been more helpful after we managed to completely mess up the booking too!"

"when we first used the shower the water was tepid/32, not comfortable but usable. The last 2 days we were there the water was too cold/28 to even take a shower and this was adjusted to the warmest setting. If it had been that cold when we got there I would have called so it could be fixed but it wasn't worth it 2 days before leaving. Also the door to the patio was very very hard to unlock and lock so as a result we simply didn't use it."

"The Garden Cottage is such a fantastic spot. My family was traveling to Scotland for a wedding and needed a nearby accommodation with minimal stairs for the 92 yr old grandmother. The Garden Cottage seemed to be a good choice until we walked in the door and WOW, it exceeded all expectations. Not only were there few stairs and 3 bedrooms, the cottage included a lovely kitchen with a large table, a sitting room, a tv room and a fantastic garden with opportunities to spot a big rabbit or two. ...

"Location excellent. And, photos accurately show current condition. The manager/owner and I have had a constructive dialogue which I hope will improve his property, specifically, buying new mattresses (as the current ones are soft and sinking), adding hangers to the wardrobe, adding hooks for damp towels to hang, and, fixing the leak from the bathroom that resulted in damp conditions in the larger of the two bedrooms. Manager/owner was responsive to my concerns and cooperative. "

"Lovely old stone cottage with everything you need to be comfortable away from home. Clear instructions, cozy living space and Henrietta is absolutely delightful and very responsive. The estate is beautiful to walk on, very peaceful, rural setting, but super easy to get into Edinburgh on the train. Delicious local restaurants."

"Clean and well equipped cottage close to main street of Gullane. The central heating was a welcome feature during our October stay. Shower over the bath was a dated feature but understand the owner is installing a walk in shower in the near future. Efficient clothes washer but no dryer. "

"Everything about the house was superb. It was spacious yet cosy and you felt at home as soon as you walked in. The house is well equipped. The beds were very comfortable with cosy duvets and crisp linen. The grounds were peaceful, all topped off by deer in the garden wandering up to the house. There is nothing vaguely critical to say."
