"My girlfriend and I stayed here with a couple friends for two weeks and can say that this villa is absolutely amazing for the price. It’s huge, with beautiful views of the mountains and sea during the day as well as the stars at night. The host Alexandros and his family were very accommodating, we arrived to a welcoming tour of the property and a gift basket. There is a wonderful aroma of flowers in the morning from the garden. The barbecue pit was also stocked with coal and fire starter which was nice. Overall I would recommend this place to any small group or families looking to stay in Crete. It’s located in a peaceful village in the mountains and is a short drive to the lively city of Rethymno. Being in the center of the island it’s also no more than about a two hour drive at most to many scenic or notable places to visit. Renting a car though is a must. "

"This was a great property with great owners. I’d say it’s probably worth spending a little but extra to make sure you have the view of valley and mountains, we had a side view but we’d know next time. Everything is very hog spec. And the family were SUPER helpful. Really comfortable bed and lovely sofa and out door furniture. Absolutely would recommend. Just half an hour to the beaches and lots of good places to eat and places to visit "

"A very charming small hotel. The hotel was an old olive oil producing village that fell into ruin. Each of the rooms has been renovated from small workers cottages to a charming standard. It is such a lovely, quiet spot away from the hustle and bustle. The pool is idyllic, the only criticism would be that I think it should be adults only. The ambience was somewhat spoilt when there was a couple with a baby who was crying by the pool and had the parents speak baby talk which ruined the quiet setting, the hotel is much better suited as an adults only due to its quiet nature. Food was excellent, breakfast choice is vast and evening meals were always excellent albeit on the pricier side, but we ate there every night. The hotel is a bit isolated away from the main tourist areas but that suited us down to the ground to be somewhere quiet. We would return. "

"What a charming, unique and comfortable home - we had a lovely stay at Dotira house. The location was great for exploring Crete but the house was so nice to come back to after a day of bopping around. The house is very nicely furnished and there are lots of nooks to relax and enjoy. "Quiet and rural, relaxing and nature-immersed, the villa was an ideal spot for an early summer break. Nikos was the perfect host, attentive and communicative but not over-bearing, simply offering guidance and support when needed. The villa is relatively simple, but perfectly and comfortably functional, clean and suffiiciently-equipped. The garden and surrounds were naturally beautiful, with cats, peacocks and swallows regular visitors, plus the added bonus of a single-eppearance shrew. The pool is ideal size for a family of three, and its relative shallowness would suit familes with young children. Friendly and fine local restaurants abound, be they the two local ones around four and seven minutes' drives (in Lampini and Mixorrouma), or a sheer glut of them in Spili, an easy ten-minute car journey, The local village Mixorrouma also offers a small supermarket, with two larger ones in Spili. A perfect place for that much-needed away-from-it-all holiday, and thanks to Nikos and his family for the welcome, friendliness and local food-and-drink gifts (especially the raki)."
