"The staff was excellent. They provided transportation to and from the train station. Very good food with attentive staff. We enjoyed the family onsen which you can reserve for 40 minutes. The futons (bedding) were a little on the thin side for me. Also the internet was on the weak side and slow. "

"There are many different choices of onsens in the ryokan. The staff are excellent as well, their english proficiency is one of the best I’ve seen as well. Although there were some incidents at the start when we check in, the staffs are very efficient at dealing with it. Overall I’ll recommend anyone who visits Kurokawa onsen to give this ryokan a try"

"Comfortable stay at Baien resort and walking distance 10 mins to the lake and shopping trip. Took a taxi from Yufuin station and cost JPY800. We enjoyed our stroll and admiring the autum foliage while walking out to the lake. It has 2 nice private onsens and 1 separate public onsen for male and female. Dinner and breakfast were delicious, staff are friendly. Recommended and enjoyable stay. "

"This is one of the best experiences I had. I enjoyed the authentic Japanese hospitality. I was greeted and escorted to the lobby. The staff led me to my room showing me all the facilities. "I enjoyed staying here, but there are some things that can be improved. The air filter in the bathroom had not been cleared in a really long time, if ever. No one has dusted behind the TV in quite some time. I stayed for two weeks, but was only given 1 role of toilet paper and a meager amount of dish soap. The lighting outside is very dim and I was worried about slipping when come back in the evening when it had rained. It would also be helpful to have instructions in English for the appliances....
