"Small, very good affordable option along the river within walking distance of the main shrine sites and immediately adjacent to the trail to the Kanmangafuchi Abyss. Seems to be routinely booked by hiking tour groups, at least the two night we spent there. The hotel showed no availability on their website, but I was able to book a room on Expedia."

"Mr. Ban runs a great guesthouse. If you're not vegetarian, get full board. It's a bit hard to find. Directions: Take bus from stop 1A at Nikko Train Station. Get off at stop 13. Walk up hill past Saitoh Dental Clinic. Walk to end of high stone wall on right. Continue past grassy area on right. A 2nd stone wall begins. Take right at first opening and bear right. Gasthof Ami is the big house at the far end. "

"I contacted the hotel through email, but they didn’t reply. I wanted to reserve a private bath for us but Ofcourse no reply so it didn’t happen. I wanted to reach out through Expedia but that didn’t work either. On Expedia the room details were false. The photos did not match the room we got. We requested a non smoking room and ended up getting a smoking room. When we asked the staff they sprayed a air freshener in the room which didn’t do anything.
