"I had a very nice stay at Gasthof Ami. It's an older house that has been converted into guestrooms, with a common dining area, and both private and semi-public baths (one indoor, one outside). It is dated, but very clean/well maintained, and the service is great. It's a little beyond the center of town, so not so convenient to access without a car; however, there is a bus stop about 5 min. walk away, so that's how I got around while visiting Nikko. If I ever make it back that way I will...

"It is a very small hotel in a very quiet small town. We didn't feel very impressed when we first saw the hotel. After we checked in and went to our onsen, it was so amazing and then our fantastic dinner. It was Wows!!! Everything was so perfect, relaxing and so peaceful. We also felt in love with the town. It was so peaceful and didn't want to leave. It worth every afford to get there. Love love it so so much!!!"
