"We liked the room - large etc, we accept the fact that as a Victorian building it was not going to look brand new, but that’s one of the things we enjoyed and why we chose the hotel. The staff were all very pleasant and helpful and there were enough of them. There were plenty of areas to sit and relax with comfortable sofas and chairs. The restaurant food was also good, an extensive breakfast buffet and a very good evening menu and wine list."

"I booked a budget stay for work and was pleasantly surprised with the standard of the hotel. I had a single room which came with a comfortable single bed, new carpet and had been freshly painted. The fixtures are clearly quite old but looks to have been freshened up and everything worked. The highlight was the (included) breakfast!! The range was huge and the cooked food top notch. The sausages were especially good. The value for money is the best I have had from a hotel in years. Will definitely stay again!"

"Came especially for the spa which was excellent, very modern, plenty to do and not too overcrowded. The new part of the hotel was very modern and complimented the older part. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Our room was on a corner in the old part and was bug and comfortable and even has a partial lake view which was lovely. Plenty of choice for breakfast which was in a lovely big bright room. We will definitely be coming back. "

"Staff refused to add my IHG awards number to the reservation, they claimed that they've never done it and it wasn't available in the reservation. The area is under reconstruccion, so the hotel is very difficult to access, the parking is a real nightmare to find"

"I regulary stay at the County hotel when passing through Carlisle as it is located in the city centre, offers free parking and the staff could not be more helpful, Bryony on reception is a credit to the hotel team Would recomend the County hotel to any traveller"
